Material Advantage + Keramos
Freshman Mentor
August 2020 - May 2024

Material Advantage is an organization of students in MatSE dedicated to promoting the major,= and furthering the careers of its participants. Keramos is an honors society for materials engineering students that stands for scholarship and character.

-
Facilitating the transition to college for freshmen by introducing them to extracurriculars, scholarship opportunities and research
-
Coordinated study sessions for MSE 182 and MSE 201 to tutor students and clear any confusion

QUIUC
Active Member
August 2021 - August 2022

QUIUC is a special interest group under the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) that advocates for research and education in quantum computing. Having conducted work at Argonne National Laboratory in developing the hardware for quantum computers, I was inspired to join and participated in their educational activities, which included taking a dive into the Qiskit toolbox for working quantum computers at the logical level.

Braun Research Group
Undergraduate Research Assistant
January 2021 - May 2024
Funded by the ISUR program in collaboration with the Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC)

Under the supervision of Dr. Paul Braun, Dr. Beniamin Zahiri, and PhD candidate Carlos Juarez-Yescas, I am developing novel halide solid-state electrolytes for use in lithium-ion batteries.

-
Assembling symmetric and full cells in a glovebox environment utilizing ball milling, annealing, and cold pressing methods
-
Utilizing electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and galvanostatic cycling (GCPL) to determine performance characteristics such as specific capacity, coulombic efficiency, and interfacial resistances

Testing High-Altitude Rockets for Unmanned Space Transport (THRUST)
Internal Director of Spaceshot
August 2020 - July 2024

THRUST is a high-powered rocketry organization that aims to be the first student-led organization to send a liquid-fueled rocket to 100 kilometers in altitude, officially reaching space. I have previously served as the project manager for the Spaceshot project and recently served as the internal director, where I founded the Level One certification program and provided for the education and professional development of our members. Learn more about our projects by visiting us at thrust.space!

-
Directed the Level One Certification program to provide members with necessary skills for safely conducting high-powered rocketry
-
Led the assembly of the Spaceshot Demo rockets, which are prototypes to the full Spaceshot rocket that will achieve an altitude of 100 km
-
Conducted transient thermal simulations with ANSYS to assess rocket survivability in supersonic flight
-
Prepared simulation tutorials and project writeups to document progress and guide new members/faculty
